USB Hub Sizing for Phone Farm Boxes
USB is the backbone of most Android phone farm deployments. Undersized hubs cause disconnect loops, slow APK pushes, and flaky batch control.
**Key sizing factors:**
- Node count per chassis (slots confirmed on quote)
- USB 2.0 vs 3.x uplink from hub to control PC
- Whether OTG Ethernet offloads traffic from the USB tree
- Simultaneous operations: idle monitoring vs bulk APK install vs screen mirror
**Typical architecture:**
Control PC → hub uplink → internal distribution board → per-node data cables. One weak link affects the whole group.
**When to step up hub tier:**
- 16+ active nodes with frequent file transfer
- Mixed OTG + USB paths in one rack
- Long cable runs without powered hubs
**What we confirm on quote:**
Hub model, uplink count, spare port policy, and cable length class. We do not publish a single hub SKU for all chassis generations — layout varies by slot count.
Cross-check node count with our USB port requirement calculator under Planning Tools, then send results with your RFQ.
