OTG vs USB: Connection Modes for Phone Farms
Connection mode is a core RFQ field — it drives hub tier, cable kit, and stability profile.
**USB-only:**
- Control and data on USB tree to control PC
- Simplest for small farms and lab benches
- Bandwidth shared across nodes on same hub
**OTG / Ethernet offload:**
- Reduces USB congestion for large farms
- Adds router/switch lines to BOM
- Useful when many nodes push heavy traffic concurrently
**Hybrid:**
Some stacks USB for control, OTG for network path — layout documented on wiring diagram at quote.
**Change mid-project:**
Possible with spare hub and cable lines; may require re-burn-in after rewire.
State current and target connection mode on RFQ so sales does not assume USB-only by default.
